To
sketch someones life, one generally starts by looking
at his resume... and thats where the difficulties
begin! Why? You tell me. Because as a person in general,
and even more so as a baker, Jacques
Mahou has amazing work experience.
Judge
for yourself....
High
school diploma, first years of college, certificate of accounting...
From a management point of view, this is after all fairly
normal for someone destined to develop the family business.
But if you look closer, things get complicated: swimming
instructor, life guard... then, nothing particularly extraordinary:
winner of several gastronomic competitions, silver medal
in the " Meilleurs Ouvriers de France "
(Best French Workmen competition), president of various
organizations both related and unrelated to his trade, and
finally, member of the French Institute of Taste.

<Mahou
kneading dough since 1620>
A
real dynasty which has been handed down from father to son
for over 10 generations of bakers, and continued for 5 generations
on his mothers side! As Jacques says: <<
In our family, we dont learn the trade, we receive
it at birth>>. Some would just be satisfied with their
genealogy at the end of such a long line of descendants,
but not Jacques.

In fact,
Jacques Mahou still
desires to carry out a project which is close to his heart.
In 1987, he acquired a very old, traditional bakery equipped
with an old-fashioned wood burning bread oven in the historical
quarter of Tours, not far from the Cathedral. Mahous
ancient roots vibrated at the sight of this residence, classified
as a historical monument.
